Founder's Story
WePrepare.Us was born from a hard lesson founder Pam Kelly experienced during Hurricane Fran in 1996. Despite having a good job and retirement savings, she discovered that financial stability did not automatically provide access to cash, essential supplies, or a practical emergency plan when power, cold food storage, and ATMs failed. With two small children, Pam had to drive 100 miles roundtrip, and wait in line for two bags of ice, to keep remaining food cold!
That experience, and others, inspired Pam to create WePrepare.Us—a life-cycle preparedness hub created to help people prepare before crisis strikes. Through five Tier 1 Preparedness Goals, members learn to build a 7–31-day water and food pantry; prepare family PERKs and go-bags; establish an emergency cash fund using 5-10-10-75™; strengthen backup power and communications; acquire valuable life-cycle skills; and protect essential documents.
Pam Kelly believes preparedness is universal and that Preparedness Equity = Social Justice. Our purpose is to equip individuals, families, and communities with practical plans. BUILD. PREPARE. EARN. CHURN....Repeat!
